A study of human resource management policy and planning, current issues in human resource management in education, human resource functions and activities including job evaluation and selection, work design, staffing practices, working terms, conditions and employment; performance management; remuneration; staff training, productivity issues and staff relations.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- Will be able to understand and map the role of human resources in a range of educational setting
- Be able to identify the critical issues and challenges facing the workplace and the managing people in educational settings
- Identify key strategies for implementing change, talent management, professional learning and improved productivity in the workplace
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- develop skills in analysis and implementation in a variety of contexts;
- develop their capacity for critical review of conceptual E.R. and HRM approaches and the practical outcomes of these in a variety of contexts;
- develop higher order case study skills;
- Understand of human capital and its relation to organization.
