Students will conceive, plan and execute a substantial research project, and present a paper at a conference organised by the School of Music mid-way through the 2 semesters of enrolment.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students should:
- demonstrate a command of both standard literature and writings at the current scholarly forefront of the chosen field
- develop the capacity for independent and original research and the ability to, plan and execute a substantial research project
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should have developed:
- a capacity for independent critical thought
- an openness to new ideas
- knowledge, skills and practices that provide a basis for independent critical inquiry and research-based writing
