This subject consists of applied study of both the practice and conceptual basis governing instrumental pedagogy, from the earliest lessons to approximately AMEB Grade Four. The subject also examines the pedagogical interrelationship between student and teacher in the formative stages of instrumental tuition.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should have:
Developed an advanced understanding of the technical and instrumental requirements involved in teaching at the formative level;
Acquired a sound understanding of the repertoire and literature requirements for instrumental teaching at this level;
Gained an understanding of the cognitive and artistic interrelationships between students, teacher and instrument relevant to instrumental teaching at this level.
