This subject extends the work undertaken in Minor Thesis (Music Therapy) 1. Students will implement the research project designed in Semester 1 and evaluate outcomes of the clinical work using either qualitative or quantitative paradigms. Tutorials will develop skills in the implementation of the project, data collection and evaluation, as well as development of appropriate writing and research skills.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Implement a minor research project adopting a qualitative or quantitative method;
- Show a command of research literature and relate this to the current project.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Compare and contrast research perspectives from objective and reflexive research traditions relevant to music therapy;
- Be able to plan and execute a minor research project in music therapy.

A presentation of research results for peer feedback, due approximately mid-semester; and a 5,000 word presentation of the minor thesis in journal article format (including introduction, design, results and discussion), due at end of semester.

Principal coordinator Kat McFerran Mode of delivery On Campus (Parkville) Contact hours On Campus Delivery - One 2-hour seminar per week and individual consultation time as required, plus up to 3 days per week in a facility approved by the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music throughout the semester and over the semester break. A minimum of 20 days is required. Blended Learning Delivery - intensive teaching in 4 day blocks, the first approximately at or before the beginning of semester, and the second approximately mid semester. Dates to be advised.
