The Specialist Certificate is designed for senior physiotherapists who specialise in paediatrics or musculoskeletal practice.
The Specialist Certificate provides preparation for the physiotherapist to function in an advanced clinical role in paediatric orthopaedics (with the support of a paediatric orthopaedic consultant as needed).
The intent is that the certificate will provide physiotherapists with an opportunity to develop competencies associated with advanced physiotherapy practice in the outpatient setting.
Entry requirements
1. In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed:
• a Bachelor of Physiotherapy or equivalent; and
• registration with the Physiotherapists Registration Board in a state or territory of Australia; and
• at least four years of documented postgraduate experience in a paediatric or musculoskeletal setting.
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.
2. In ranking and/or assessing applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
• prior academic qualification and performance; and
• the professional experience.
3. The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Academic Board rules on the use of selection instruments.
4. Applicants are required to satisfy the university’s English language requirements for postgraduate courses. For those applicants seeking to meet these requirements by one of the standard tests approved by the Academic Board, performance band 6.5 is required.
Note: Applicants are advised that they will be required to obtain, and pay for, working with children and police checks prior to commencing the course.

The course aims to enable participants to:

Course structure
To satisfy the requirements of the Specialist Certificate in Paediatric Orthopaedics Physiotherapy, students must successfully complete both subjects, a total of 25 points
