This subject will allow students to gain in depth understanding of a number of management and leadership approaches and frameworks that can be applied in the international development sector. As the global aid and development sector changes, new, innovative and modern approaches to management and leadership are increasingly required. This subject will provide students with the opportunity to analyse these approaches and frameworks, to build on appropriate management approaches that suit their current and future professional practice.
Intended learning outcomes
Students who complete this subject should be able to
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of a variety of management and leadership approaches and frameworks
- Critically reflect on their own their management skills and attributes and where appropriate to refine their approaches in line with the requisites of achieving program goals and objectives
- Make a valuable contribution as a member of a team to address contemporary management and leadership challenges
Generic skills
Students who complete this subject should be able to:
- Identify management approaches and frameworks for development
- Illustrate skills in effective communication required for managing a team
- Gain skills in reflexive management and leadership practice
