This subject will introduce students to research design in the behavioural sciences and provide the basic statistical tools and concepts for analysing relevant experimental data.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
critically examine research and literature in the hearing-related sciences;
understand basic research design and the generation of testable hypotheses;
understand basic statistical tests relevant to speech and hearing science and apply these accordingly; and
undertake a scientific literature search.
Generic skills
Students will have an appreciation of the ethical issues in scientific research and health care. They should also have improved their skills in general problem solving.
