Through a series of guest lectures and projects students gain a deeper understanding of the industry they are about to enter into as well as how to promote themselves to gain employment in the area of their choice.
They will learn about the funding bodies and organisations that support the stage and screen industries and consider how they might utilise these through applying for funding and other forms of support. Students will also prepare a professional portfolio and develop interview skills for the purposes of self-promotion.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- Present themselves professionally in an interview
- Produce a portfolio of their design work for the purpose of gaining employment
- Apply for grants and other potential funding
- Identify key bodies and organisations within the live performance, film and television industries
Generic skills
On completion of the subject students should have developed:
- A deep understanding of the live performance, film and television industries
- Highly effective skills at presenting themselves and their work
