The Music Theatre Global Atelier elective offers students in their final year of the BFA (Music Theatre) an immersive international experience over a two week period during the summer term. Travelling to one of the world’s leading cities for music theatre performance, students will engage in a daily program of specialist studio-based workshops and have the opportunity to see a diverse range of the world’s best performance work. Working with international guest teachers, this subject will focus on the continuing high-level development of technically proficient, integrated and performance-ready skills in acting, singing and dance as students prepare for their final year of training and to begin auditioning professionally.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- effectively engage in practical workshops and classes, demonstrating commitment to the development and application of skills in studio tasks and self-directed practice;
- critically evaluate their own learning, independent practice and performance;
- compare local and international expectations and practices of music theatre performance;
- utilise the international perspective and understanding of cultural context developed through the atelier program to perform music theatre repertoire.
