Structure
100 credit points
MAJOR
A major in History and Philosophy of Science consists of eight x 12.5-point subjects:
Level 1
Two subjects / 25 points
- One level 1 History and Philosophy of Science subject and
- One Arts Foundation Subject: MULT10016 Reason is recommended (this can count towards major credit points) or
- One additional level 1 History and Philosophy of Science subject (for a double major). See Arts Foundation Structure page for further information.
Level 2
Three subjects / 37.5 points
- Three level 2 History and Philosophy of Science subjects
Level 3
Three subjects / 37.5 points
- Compulsory capstone subject HPSC30035 Science in Action and
- Two level 3 History and Philosophy of Science subjects.
Total 100 points
Note: Level 1 subjects must be successfully completed before progressing to level 2 subjects; level 2 subjects must be successfully completed before progressing to level 3 subjects. Only students completing a major in History and Philosophy of Science can enrol in the capstone subject.

MINOR
Level 1
25 points comprising of the following:
- One Arts Foundation Subject: MULT10016 Reason is recommended but not required, and
