Drama Therapy Methods 4 introduces students to psychodrama, playback theatre and therapeutic theatre performance, through experiential learning.
In classroom practice students will lead an integrated group drama therapy experience that integrates a range of methods and explains and reflects on underlying core therapeutic processes.
Students will further identify and demonstrate responsibilities of drama therapists in facilitating closings and endings.
Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of this subject students should be able to:
- appraise related drama therapy methods of psychodrama, playback or therapeutic theatre performance;
- facilitate group drama therapy experience that integrates a range of methods;
- identify and demonstrate responsibilities of drama therapists in facilitating closings and endings;
- expertly explain and critically reflect on a number underlying core therapeutic processes.

Essay describing the theoretical underpinnings of one of the following: psychodrama, playback theatre or therapeutic theatre performance.

10 minute video autobiographical student performance (may ask other students to participate) in which you explore new self-awareness as a result of participating in the course (1000 words equivalent), supported with process notes (500 words equvalent), and a 500 word performance synopsis.

Written critical reflection on the responsibilities of facilitating creative arts therapies methods.

Essay identifying and critically reflecting on core processes at work in playback theatre.
