This subject is offered as part of the second year of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry. It is taken in the following specialties:
ENDODONTICS: Current endodontic texts and current literature reviews on topics of interest in clinical endodontics.
ORAL MEDICINE: A series of seminars, assigned readings, student prepared assignments and clinical case presentations.
ORTHODONTICS: A series of seminars and assigned readings.
PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY: A series of seminars, assigned readings, student-prepared assignments and case presentations on clinical aspects of the specialty.
PERIODONTICS: A series of seminars discussing current literature; student-prepared assignments on the applied clinical aspects of the specialty of periodontics as they relate to the examination, diagnosis and treatment of a variety of periodontal diseases; and case presentations related to the management of patients with a variety of conditions related to the periodontium.
PROSTHODONTICS: A series of seminars and student-prepared assignments in prosthodontics.
SPECIAL NEEDS DENTISTRY: A series of seminars, case presentations, and student-prepared assignments on current issues in special needs dentistry.
Intended learning outcomes
To provide seminars, assigned readings and/or assignments on the basis and applied sciences that form the basis of the student's chosen specialty.

Time commitment details
ENDO, ORAL MED, PED DENT, PERIO, PROS: 6-8 hours of non-contact hours of private study. ORTHODONTICS: 5-7 hours of non-contact hours of private study. SND: 4-6 hours of non-contact hours for assignments and private study.
