Dancing the Dance 3 is a practice based program which offers students who have some dance experience or who have undertaken Dancing the Dance 1 or Dancing the Dance 1 and 2, the opportunity to experience an intensive intermediate level training program. The subject includes one Ballet class and one Contemporary class per week for 12 weeks. Students will focus on improving their flexibility, strength, and range of motion. Ballet classes will include barre work, centre work and enchainment. Contemporary classes will include floor work, centre work and travelling sequences.
Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of this subject students should be able to:
- effectively engage in practical workshops and classes, demonstrating commitment to the development and application of skills in studio tasks and self-directed practice;
- implement a personal warmup program based on efficient alignment, conditioning and dance techniques to improve flexibility, strength and control;
- perform movement material efficiently and proficiently;
- incorporate spatial awareness, musicality and dynamic range in movement;
- critically evaluate their own learning in the context of regular coaching and feedback from the teacher.
