In this subject students will have the opportunity to undertake a small clinical research investigation in an area of clinical interest. In consultation with a research supervisor and/or the course coordinator, participants will formulate a research question and undertake a systematic or literature review to evaluate the published evidence to synthesize an answer to their research question. This subject will provide participants with the practical knowledge required to plan an evidence based clinical research project with consideration given to the process and requirements of ethics approval.
Intended learning outcomes
At the end of this subject, students should be able to;
- Formulate a clinical research question answerable with existing research evidence in an area of clinical interest
- Design and undertake an appropriate research search strategy to review evidence and literature relevant to the research question
- Demonstrate advanced critical appraisal of published research literature and evidence
- Expertly synthesise, interpret and integrate research findings from multiple sources
- Communicate research findings effectively in oral and written formats
- Demonstrate a capacity to plan a clinical research project with regard to ethical issues
- Develop an application for approval by an ethics committee

Prerequisites
To enrol in this subject, you must be admitted in The Master of Clinical Research. This subject is not available for students admitted in any other courses
