Chamber Music involves the formation of instrumental/vocal groupings of 3 or more players, according to repertoire requirements.
Students will develop musical and professional techniques and skills required for 21st century chamber musicians and study selected repertoire to performance standard.
The subject involves the study and preparation of diverse chamber repertoire requiring individual part-preparation and regular group rehearsals.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- show technical development as chamber music players;
- perform selected repertoire to concert standard;
- demonstrate a capacity to think critically and independently in matters of corporate style, sonority, balance, ensemble, phrasing, blending and musical gesture;
- identify the broad and diverse cultural references of the chamber music literature;
- apply time and people management skills to rehearsal and performance planning;
- utilize teamwork and entrepreneurial skills in concert planning, publicity and audience development.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject students should be able to:
- demonstrate a capacity to think critically and independently;
- study selected chamber repertoire to performance standard;
- apply time and people management skills to rehearsal and performance planning;
- demonstrate teamwork skills in rehearsal/performance groups numbering from two to ten persons.

Students intending to enrol in Chamber Music must submit a Chamber Music Application Form.
The completed form must be submitted no later than 5PM on Friday of Week 1.
