This subject investigates connections between science and art in animation, exploring data visualisation and motion graphics, designing and creating animation for gallery and museum contexts. Students will research experimental animation methods and explore possible future techniques of animation. Students will also explore textures, structures and materials of animation and developing their folios of production assets related to this study.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- research experimental animation methods and concepts;
- apply experimental production techniques to express screen-based ideas;
- create and organise animation production assets for an experimental production;
- design an animation to communicate complex concepts;
- apply the technical requirements for animation in a museum and gallery;
- evaluate and apply feedback to build on experimental animation productions.
