This subject builds upon knowledge and skills attained in Writing Animation 1 with a focus on story research, character creation and world building.
Students undertake research for the creation of an animation screenplay that will be ready for production by the end of the semester. Students will be introduced to the field of animated documentary and will create an animated rendering of biographical material.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- investigate and compare animation methods and identify their impact on writing;
- research related background material that underpins story and concept design;
- support creative concepts through academic research and argument;
- apply interview preparation and recording skills;
- identify and interpret factual material that can be applied to animation;
- create an original screenplay at a standard that is ready for animation production;
- critique and evaluate feedback to develop screenplays and storyboards.
