This intensive subject will explore what it means to be on country in Parkville, Melbourne. Students will be introduced to the values of the Wurundjeri people through local on-country experiences and be co-hosted in Bunjilaka, Museum Victoria over a week-long period with access to academics, curators, artists and Indigenous knowledge experts. The subject provides an opportunity for students to experience, better understand and academically engage with the knowledge systems and boundaries as exclusively maintained by a local Indigenous community. Students will also learn about the responsibilities maintained by host Indigenous communities in relation to other kin group’s material culture resting on their Country.
