The Project in Ageing - S is the second of two capstone subject options in the Master of Ageing (see POPH90262 Project In Ageing for the 25 credit point subject). In this subject, students will have the opportunity to apply the academic knowledge and skills acquired throughout the Master of Ageing to a project that addresses a contemporary issue in ageing. Students will produce a project report, to be formally presented and reported on at the conclusion of the project. This subject requires students to further develop and consolidate their analytical and problem-solving skills. It is designed to be accompanied by a relevant coursework elective subject (12.5 points) selected by the student. Through this combination of subjects, and consolidation of content and methods, students are expected to develop a deep and broad knowledge of a particular aspect of ageing, such as Technology and Ageing, Design and Ageing, Culture and Ageing etc.
Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of this Master of Ageing, graduates will be able to:
- Plan and execute an original project on a selected contemporary issue in ageing, directly relevant to the issue/focus of a completed elective within the Master of Ageing;
- Apply, integrate and synthesise knowledge and skills acquired throughout the course to address a contemporary issue in ageing;
- Critically review the existing literature in the selected area of ageing;
- Demonstrate problem‐solving and develop solutions in the selected area of ageing;
- Communicate project results effectively and appropriately in oral form to an audience;
- Produce original work in a short written report, which demonstrates analytical and research skills.
Generic skills
Students will also have the opportunity to develop their skills in:
- Critical thinking and analysis;
- Problem-solving;
- Finding, evaluating and using relevant information; and
- Written and oral communication.

Completion of a minimum of 100 credit points of study, inclusive of all five core subjects
