The ASWEAS Guidelines set out by the AASW require social work students to undertake their placement without a break (AASW Guideline - Australian Social Work Education and Accreditation Standards). Students must therefore undertake placement offerings in sequential offerings to fulfill accreditation requirements.
The primary placement block where most students undertake their placements is between May and August. Accordingly, placement subjects should be enrolled and completed in the following order: SCWK90050 (May) and SCWK90051 (July).
Students unable to enrol in the above subject pairing will require approval from the Subject Coordinator to enrol in any other study period.
Note: Before being allowed to commence a student placement, all students must satisfy certain pre-placement requirements found at: https://mdhs.unimelb.edu.au/study/current-students/placements. This should be completed at least 4 weeks before the placement period.
