The honours program in Urban Planning gives students the opportunity to complete an advanced course of study, including an independent research project on an area of interest approved by the specialisation coordinator.
Students must achieve a minimum of 65% in all subjects in order to qualify for the awarding of an honours degree.
Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of this specialisation, students are expected to:
Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of critical issues in urban planning
Demonstrate high-level research skills appropriate to urban planning
Be able to carry out literature review and develop research questions
Demonstrate research capabilities equipped with critical thinking and analysis skills
Be able to design an independent research project and demonstrate a high level of oral and written communication skills
Be able to inform planning policy by research findings.
