The English Language specialisation is part of the Master of Applied Linguistics.
This specialisation focuses on sociolinguistic theories, and techniques of linguistic analysis related to discourse, semantics, syntax, phonetics, and phonology.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this specialisation, students should be able to:
Demonstrate an understanding of the socio-cultural context of language and communication;
Identify and synthesize current issues and debates in sociolinguistics;
Critically evaluate research on the social dimension of language use and its applications.
