Intended learning outcomes
Graduates of this course will have advanced and integrated understanding and knowledge of current research, debates, policies and practices in tertiary education management from a multidisciplinary and global perspective, and should be able to:
- Critically analyse and synthesise tertiary education management theories, debates, policies and practice through evidence based research
- Evaluate and analyse the political and historical contexts informing tertiary education management policies and practices
- Research and apply established leadership and management theories to tertiary education management policy and practice
- Interpret and communicate contemporary tertiary education research ideas and findings to the wider educational community
- Critique and apply multidisciplinary leadership and management theories and evidence based research to inform tertiary education policy
- Critique and apply multidisciplinary leadership and management theories and evidence based research to improve tertiary education leadership and management professional practice
- Apply specialised theoretical understanding and judgement of current research, debates, policies and practices in tertiary education management, leadership and policy from a multidisciplinary and global perspective
- Autonomously plan, execute and deliver a tertiary education management investigative project, or piece of research within their area of specialisation
Graduate attributes
Graduates will have well-informed perspectives on the issues and challenges for tertiary education systems and institutions in a diverse and rapidly evolving sector. They will be able to apply the knowledge and skills acquired in this program to engage more confidently and effectively in the tasks of leading people, influencing policy, planning strategy and managing change projects.
