This subject builds on the subject Principles of Hearing Rehabilitation. Students will continue to learn about the psychological and social challenges posed by hearing loss and other auditory-related conditions on a person and their communication partners and explore the options for rehabilitation of these conditions.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students will be able to:
- Explain how hearing devices function and how they can be fitted, adjusted and monitored to provide individualised assistance to impacted individuals;
- Demonstrate awareness of client and clinician characteristics that influence aural rehabilitation processes and outcomes;
- Employ patient-centred approaches to the process of developing a strategy for designing and implementing aural rehabilitation; and
- Using theoretical frameworks, integrate the elements of communication, hearing disability and rehabilitation options to provide tailored advice for impacted individuals.

At the completion of this subject, students should be able to demonstrate:
