Conceptual development is only the beginning of the design process. This subject outlines the process and staff involved in both stage and screen production. This includes understanding production roles, timelines and the professional responsibilities of designers. Applied projects throughout the subject will allow students to apply the knowledge in context.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- identify and articulate the interaction of designers with their principal collaborators in an industry context;
- make design decisions informed by budgetary and scheduling considerations;
- articulate the production process in both stage and screen, identifying differences;
- identify and solve practical problems affecting design realisation.
Generic skills
- Well-developed problem-solving abilities in the discipline area, characterised by flexibility of approach;
- advanced competencies in areas of professional practice and/or scholarship;
- an advanced understanding of the national and international context of the specialist area;
- a capacity to manage competing demands on time, including self-directed project work;
- the capacity to value and participate in projects which require team-work.
