To provide an integrated tailored leadership and management program based in theory and practice for professional scientific staff in Defence that supports the organisational goals, work unit skill requirements and the career development and learning needs of participants
Intended learning outcomes
On successful completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Critically reflect on the personal adaptations to leadership required to effectively lead change in multi-stakeholder environments.
- Demonstrate a high level of self-knowledge and reflect on how leadership characteristics can create diverse teams and build innovative and collaborative environments.
- Develop recommendations for organisational change that demonstrate an application of innovation practices and leadership theory combined with an understanding of the scientific context.
- Use influential communication to transmit leadership knowledge and ideas for organisational innovation in science and technology to colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Construct a plan to apply leadership theories and practice to complex organisational contexts in response to the development of new leadership skills.
