Overview
The honours program in Agricultural Science comprises advance coursework and an individual research project to extend students’ knowledge and skills in solving research problems. After successfully completing the program, students will be prepared to either enter the workforce pursuing a career in Agriculture, or enrol for further research study through applying for a Masters or Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Admission requirements
In addition to satisfying the Bachelor of Science (Degree with Honours) entry requirements, students are required to have completed stream specific prerequisites. Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this Honours program, students should be able to:
- Articulate methods that examine agricultural production and land management; structures in agricultural and related industries; principle factors that determine their location, environmental impact, sustainability, profitability and international trade competitiveness; and the biophysical, economic and social factors that affect production systems
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge to critically evaluate scientific, economic and social sources in agricultural science
- Employ analytical skills to evaluate agricultural obstacles and identify solutions
- Effectively communicate applied research and data
- Demonstrate a critical understanding of research methodologies necessary to design and interpret scientific experiments.
