The Professional Certificate in Digital Transformation of Health is a 25-point program that can be completed part-time over one or two terms. Students participate in two subjects that have been developed and taught by an inter-disciplinary team of experts from the Centre for Digital Transformation of Health. Designed to provide applicable skills to healthcare managers, nurses, medical practitioners, allied health practitioners, scientists, information systems practitioners, and informaticists; this certificate is foundational for anyone wanting to improve healthcare through data and virtual care.
Entry requirements
1. In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed:
- An undergraduate degree or equivalent; or
- At least five years of documented relevant work experience
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.
2. In ranking applicants, the Selection Committee will consider:
- Academic performance in their most recent degree
- Academic performance in any prior academic qualification
- Workplace experience in the health sector
3. The Selection Committee may conduct interviews and tests and may call for referee reports or employer references to elucidate any of the matters referred to above.
4. Applicants are required to satisfy the university’s English language requirements for graduate courses. For those applicants seeking to meet these requirements by one of the standard tests approved by the Academic Board, performance band 6.5 is required.

Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this course, graduates should be able to:
- Explain how digital data, information and knowledge are generated and managed for clinical care, biomedical research, public health, and health policy and planning.
- Communicate knowledgeably about the uses of core learning health system, data science, health informatics concepts, tools and methods.
- Critically evaluate approaches to health systems science, biomedical information systems and information technology in contemporary healthcare in Australia and internationally.
- Apply the principles of design thinking, data infrastructure, implementation, evaluation, data analysis, data collection, and data access to propose improvements to a current or future healthcare organisation.
