Throughout practical, adaptive online simulations, you will have the opportunity to apply your management and leadership skills and work collaboratively to resolve complex challenges and conflicts. Within the context of simulated scenarios, you will build on your reflexive decision-making abilities and demonstrate the capacity to exercise sound judgment under pressure and lead with confidence, while working as part of a team.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate understanding and application of knowledge and skills required at different levels of leadership: personal, organisational, interorganisational and global;
- Apply their knowledge and skills of management and leadership techniques to specific contexts as appropriate within the development sector;
- Understand and reflect on the practical implications of making decisions in tight time frames, working with teams and different stakeholders;
- Effectively respond to challenges as they arise in a program or project setting.

Inherent requirements (core participation requirements)
The course is designed for online delivery, students are required to participate online. Students will be required to meet some basic technological requirements such as ongoing and stable access to the internet, up to date browsers, and a microphone and headset for webinars (as specified at: https://online.unimelb.edu.au/support/current-students/apps-and-software-info/systems-and-support)

Assignment 1: Peer Review of individual team members of their contribution and engagement to the group simulation project (due at end of term (Weeks 7-8); equivalence to 500 words) Note this is an individual task

Assignment 2: Individual Report comprising of two discussion posts reflecting on individual contributions and experiences of the Scenario Simulation – due mid‐term (weeks 4-6), approximately 1500 words

Assignment 3: Major Scenario Simulation Group Report -comprising of analysis and response formulation of the simulation exercise (due examination period) The final group report will be 3000 words or equivalent with evidence of individual contributions to the report. (Approx. 6‐8 per group)

Digital Reflective Journal (Individual) – although this is not assessed, it is intended to provide students with: 1) Opportunities for personal reflection on their key learnings and the challenges of working in groups; and, 2) To identify areas for personal development in knowledge, skills and their application.
