Intended learning outcomes

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

• Appraise patient reported outcome measures in the perioperative setting
• Appraise patient centred care as a model of perioperative care delivery
• Appraise team based patient care extending to post hospital discharge
• Appraise the concept of real-time recovery feedback and critique its role in perioperative care
• Evaluate value-based care and the cost and consequences of incomplete recovery
• Evaluate the clinical utility and cost-benefit analysis of perioperative ultrasound throughout the perioperative period
• Evaluate the role of the perioperative position as team leader
• Critique issues of consent, power of attorney and advanced care directives pertaining to the perioperative period
• Integrate Quality of Recovery principles into clinical case studies
• Complete and critique a clinical audit practicum of 50 clinical cases involving Postoperative recovery using the PostopQRS
