About this course
Entry requirements
1. In order to be considered for entry, applicants must have completed at least one degree with a weighted average mark of at least 65% in:
- an undergraduate degree in public health; or
- an undergraduate degree and at least two years appropriate full-time work experience (or equivalent) in a public health setting including work activities focused on health policy, health economics, health planning, epidemiology research, and more; or
- an undergraduate degree and at least two years appropriate full-time work experience (or equivalent) in a professional healthcare setting including medical, nursing, AHPRA-registered allied health professional degrees (e.g., physiotherapist, pharmacist, chiropractor); or
• a Master’s Degree (Research or Coursework) or PhD in health or public health including medical degree, nursing degree, and AHPRA-registered allied health professional degrees.
Meeting these requirements does not guarantee selection.
2. In ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
- Prior academic performance
- Public health and health-related work experience, as evidenced by a CV provided by the candidate
3. The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Academic Board rules on the use of selection instruments.
4. Applicants are required to satisfy the university’s English language requirements for postgraduate courses. For those applicants seeking to meet these requirements by one of the standard tests approved by the Academic Board, performance band 6.5 is required.
Notes:
This Certificate is used as a pathway to the online Master of Public Health (MC-PHMO) only and as an exit point from an incomplete MC-PHMO. Students will not be able to take this Certificate concurrently with the Master of Public Health (on-campus or online).
Students who have previously completed relevant masters level public health subjects, within accepted time frames, may be eligible for up to 25 points of advanced standing. Students enrolled in the Master of Public Health at the Melbourne School of Population and Global Health who have completed up to 4 relevant subjects within an incomplete MPH are eligible to receive full credit and exit with a Graduate Certificate in Public Health.
