This subject establishes a foundation essential for being an effective manager. It provides an overview of key areas that need to be managed effectively for an organisation to be successful, and the inter-connectedness of key areas. The subject teaches useful skills and techniques that will help students effectively manage those key areas. It also teaches students essential skills for successfully completing later subjects that delve deeper into these key areas.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

- Articulate and critically analyse an organisation's competitive environment, business model and competitive advantage
- Identify key internal and external factors that need to be managed to successfully implement the organisation's competitive strategy
