Please note: this subject is delivered wholly online and only open to students enrolled in the wholly online Master of Cyber Security (MC-CYBSCMO) or Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security (GC-CYBSCMO). Subjects in this course are delivered in an online accelerated learning model and therefore, students typically enrol in one 12.5 credit point subject per online teaching term.
This subject introduces a range of information security management services implemented in industry.
The subject will cover the fundamental principles and practice of security risk assessment, incident response and disaster recovery, knowledge leakage, systems and network security, and policy and culture.
Students will analyse and evaluate real-world security practices in each of these areas, developing practical skills in identifying, implementing, and critiquing industry-standard security measures across various organisational contexts.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- apply skills in critical thinking and systems analysis to identify, evaluate and/or communicate strategic and operational issues suited to the application of information systems security concepts and theories to real-world practice;
- apply skills related to business communication suited to the application of information systems security concepts and theories to real-world practice;
- critically evaluate and apply principles of business information systems security to emerging challenges in diverse organisational contexts;
- apply the professional codes of conduct and ethical standards as they pertain to information systems security in practice.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should have developed the following generic skills:
- team work and collaboration;
- report-writing;
- presentation and public speaking.
