Overview
The minimum entry requirement for Islamic studies honours is completion of all the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts, with a major in Islamic studies and an average of at least H2A (75%) in second and third-year subjects within the major, or equivalent.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this specialisation, students should be able to:
- Apply advanced research skills in the analysis of critical issues in Islamic Studies
- Utilise interdisciplinary frameworks to engage critically with key issues in contemporary Islam
- Evaluate and apply rigorous methods of inquiry and theories and methodologies appropriate to Islamic Studies
- Construct and sustain an argument based on research.

Structure
100 credit points
Students undertaking pure honours in Islamic studies must complete:
- 87.5 credit points of compulsory subjects
- 12.5 credit points of elective subject
Total 100 points.

Students may choose the elective subject above or another elective subject from the Asia Institute (the subject must be Honours (level 4) or Graduate level (level 9) in consultation with their supervisor. Approval from the supervisor and subject coordinator must be provided.
