Entry requirements
Minimum entry requirements
To be considered for entry into this course, applicants must:
- Have completed a bachelor degree (AQF7) or equivalent in a cognate (relevant) discipline. Cognate (relevant) disciplines include: A major in finance, or a minor sequence or specialisation in finance.
And
- Have completed below prerequisite subject(s):
- Corporate Finance (FNCE20005) or equivalent
- Investments (FNCE30001) or equivalent
- Derivative Securities (FNCE30007) or equivalent.
Weighted Average Mark (WAM) and subject-specific criteria are based on the University of Melbourne’s grading standards and subjects. If studies are from elsewhere, we’ll assess the grades and subjects against University of Melbourne equivalents. This means that the final WAM may be adjusted depending on the previous institution's accreditation, subject grading, and pass marks.
All degree levels referenced align with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), the national policy guide for regulated qualifications in Australian education and training. Applications will be assessed against these standards.
English language requirement
Applicants must satisfy the University's English language requirements. Level 1 English scores are required for this course.
Selection methodology
When assessing and, where relevant, ranking applications, the Selection Committee will consider:
- Prior academic performance
- Relevance of previous study
The Selection Committee may seek further information to clarify any aspect of an application in accordance with the Selection and Admission Policy.
Meeting the minimum entry and English language requirements does not guarantee selection.
Notes
- Applicants without a prior degree majoring in Finance will be excluded from entry to this degree. Subject to meeting entry requirements, applicants are encouraged to apply for the Master of Management (Finance).
- Graduate Access Melbourne applications will be considered for this course.
Exit award information
- Students who discontinue from the Master of Finance (Enhanced) but have successfully completed 100 points of the Master of Finance (Enhanced), including completion of the four compulsory subjects, will be eligible to receive the Graduate Diploma in Finance as an exit award.
- Students who discontinue from the Master of Finance (Enhanced) but have successfully completed the requirements of the 150 point Master of Finance will be eligible to receive the Master of Finance as an exit award.
