This capstone studio for the Interior Design major challenges students to design innovative, sustainable, and functional retrofit solutions for existing interior spaces. Students will integrate theoretical knowledge, technical skills, and creative thinking to address real-world interior design challenges. Emphasis will be placed on adaptive reuse, sustainability, accessibility, and client-driven problem-solving in alignment with contemporary interior design practices.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Analyse the structural, environmental, and functional conditions of an existing space
- Develop and present a design concept based on adaptive reuse principles
- Apply sustainable and environmentally-conscious design strategies
- Create detailed technical drawings and models to communicate design solutions
- Present work professionally to stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively.
