Students will be required to write a thesis of 20,000 words on a topic approved by the supervisor. Students will also write a research proposal and give two oral presentations on the research.
Chinese Studies Thesis Part 1 and Part 2 must be completed consecutively.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to
- Evaluate research and professional literature concerning China
- Articulate their findings and views in oral and written presentations
- Critically appraise major issues and sensitivities regarding China
- Engage with debates on issues on China where appropriate
- Design and conduct original research.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Evaluate research and professional literature
- Articulate their findings and views in oral and written presentations
- Examine complex and important cultural materials from a scholarly perspective
- Present arguments in structured formats.
