This subject is designed to provide students with specialised knowledge and skills for research, professional practice and further learning in the field of contemporary Australian literature. Students will develop advanced and integrated understandings of ways of reading and they will produce creative responses to the selected texts for the subject. Ultimately, students will develop expert, specialised cognitive and technical skills in creative writing by reading and analysing significant Australian works.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Critique contemporary Australian writing
- Design and conduct research to produce a scholarly text on an aspect of Australian writing
- Engage in public discourse through the written word and in groups
- Identify the range of possibilities in, and discuss difference in, Australian literary culture
- Conduct group discussions and engage in collaborative learning
- Produce self-initiated creative projects.
