Students will be required to write a thesis of 20,000 words on a topic approved by the supervisor. Students will also write a research proposal and give two oral presentations on the research.
Islamic Studies Thesis Part 1 and Part 2 must be completed consecutively.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Review research and professional literature concerning Islam and Muslim affairs
- Design and conduct and original research
- Critically appraise major issues and sensitivities regarding Islam and Muslim affairs
- Engage where appropriate with issues to do with Islam and Muslim affairs
- Articulate their findings and views in oral and written presentations.
Generic skills
On completion of this subject, students should be able to:
- Process, organise and integrate information using analytical skills and learning strategies
- Communicate ideas effectively in written and oral formats
- Collaborate effectively in transcultural and diverse environments
- Engage confidently in self-directed study and research.
