Japanese Studies Thesis Part 2 (JAPN40011)

Students will be required to write a thesis of 20,000 words on a topic approved by the supervisor. Students will also write a research proposal and give two oral presentations on the research. 

Japanese Studies Thesis Part 1 and Part 2 must be completed consecutively. 

Intended learning outcomes

On completion of this subject, students should be able to:

• Review research and professional literature concerning Japan.
• Design and conduct original research.
• Critically appraise major issues and sensitivities regarding Japan.
• Engage with debates on issues on Japan where appropriate.
• Articulate their findings and views in oral and written presentations.
