Structure
50 credit points
Students will have their appropriate entry point determined by the Chinese Studies program, based on evidence of prior learning and/or results of a placement test as required. Please refer to the following link for further information:
Due to the wide range of student language proficiency levels (from beginners to fluent), the Chinese Studies program provides six language entry points, the super advanced entry point is only available as a minor, available to students who have completed secondary education in a Chinese environment.
The entry points for this minor are:
- Chinese Studies Entry Point 1: Students with no previous knowledge of the language usually enter the progression at Chinese 1
- Chinese Studies Entry Point 3: Students with little previous knowledge of the language usually enter the progression at Chinese 3
- Chinese Studies Entry Point 5: Non background students with lower advanced knowledge of the language usually enter the progression at Chinese 5
- Chinese Studies Entry Point 7: Students who have a Chinese-speaking background and minimal literacy skills usually enter the progression at Chinese 7
- Chinese Studies Entry Point 9: Students who have a Chinese-speaking background and limited literacy in Chinese usually enter the progression at Chinese 9
- Chinese Studies Entry Point 11: This is an entry point only available as a minor and is for students who have completed secondary education in a Chinese environment
