Overview
The Performance (ANAM) major is only available to students enrolling at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) who wish to pursue a concurrent Bachelor of Music degree.
Performance (ANAM) is a highly specialised instrumental performance program, available to students enrolling at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) who wish to pursue a concurrent Bachelor of Music degree.
The practical and ensemble requirements are delivered largely at ANAM, while history, theory and breadth subjects are taken alongside University of Melbourne students.
Intended learning outcomes
On completion of this major, students should be able to:
- situate their interpretive practice and aesthetic position in the contemporary performance context;
- contextualise their repertoire and performing practice historically and culturally;
- engage critically and productively with current scholarship and performance;
- sustain a high level of craft and artistic maturity on their instrument;
- participate with ability, respect and responsibility as a member of a performing group;
- uphold rigorous intellectual and ethical standards in performance planning, preparation and documentation;
- perform musical works and programs with assurance, stylistic awareness and individuality;
- apply critical intelligence, self-reflection and creative problem-solving to their development as performing musicians.
