Intended learning outcomes

On completion of this Honours program, students should be able to:

• Critically evaluate scientific data and manuscripts, and articulate the significance of research findings in the context of local and global health and disease, and how these findings can impact on the clinical management of patients
• Design experiments and select appropriate statistical analyses to address research questions(s) related to translational biomedical research, in a broad range of clinical and pre-clinical research areas with direct relevance to human health and disease
• Conduct research, including selection and implementation of experimental models and methods, data collection methods, and statistical analysis methods
• Communicate translational biomedical research design, methodology, data and outcomes, and significance to both expert scientific and lay audiences, in both oral and written form
• Apply principles of intellectual integrity and the ethics of scholarship, including identifying and following the principles of ethical conduct of research with animals and humans
• Show proficiency in time management for completion of scientific tasks against set deadlines
• Work effectively independently, and collaboratively under supervision within a research team from diverse backgrounds.
