Graduate Certificate in ScienceInformal specialisationYear: 2023
Prof Jeffrey McCallum
The Graduate Certificate in Science with a specialisation in Physics (GC-SC – Physics) program allows students who have completed an undergraduate degree with a major in a discipline other than Physics to re-focus or expand their body of knowledge by completing the Physics specialisation and it provides an introduction to graduate-level coursework. The GC-SC (Physics) provides a pathway to continue study in Physics at a graduate level and provides graduates with knowledge of Physics principles and concepts that is valuable in a broad range of professions.
Intended learning outcomes
Upon completion of the Physics specialisation, graduates should be able to:
- Demonstrate a well-developed understanding of key physical, mathematical, computational and conceptual models of natural phenomena and possess a detailed knowledge of the applicability and limitations of these models;
- Explain the central role played by experimental observation in physics in the development of theoretical, mathematical, computational and conceptual models of natural phenomena;
- Apply physics concepts and methods to address scientific questions in a range of physics-related contexts;
- Articulate and illustrate their knowledge in oral and written scientific communication.
