Overview
Sociology tackles pressing social problems and addresses key social issues such as changes in the life course, gender relations, ethnic, racial and sexual identities, health and illness, the future of work, new technologies, and environmental crises. It engages with social inequalities and explores how people and societies confront these new challenges – from social movements to subcultures to policy reform. Students studying sociology will learn crucial skills in sociological thinking and research to address real world problems facing our society today.

- Analyse social problems, phenomena and sociological texts demonstrating critical and structural thinking
- Apply research skills, including data collection, analysis, interpretation skills, responding to real-world questions of social significance
- Formulate well-reasoned arguments, including arguments grounded in sociological explanations and social theory.
