Overview
Students who complete the Graduate Diploma (Chemistry specialisation) will develop the capacity to view the world from a molecular perspective and will have the ability to solve complex problems that span the breadth of chemistry and other sciences. Pathways for Graduate Diploma (Chemistry specialisation) students will include careers in research (through further study including MSc and PhD programs in chemistry and allied areas), teaching, government and professional positions.
Intended learning outcomes
Students who complete the Graduate Diploma (Chemistry Specialisation) should be able to:
- Demonstrate an independent approach to chemical knowledge that uses rigorous methods of inquiry and appropriate theories and methodologies that are applied with intellectual honesty and a respect for ethical values;
- Apply critical and analytical skills and methods to the identification and resolution of chemical problems;
- Act and communicate as informed and critically discriminating participants within the community of chemistry scholars, as citizens and in the work force;
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of appropriate instrumentation and technologies for the acquisition, processing, interpretation and modelling of data;
- Demonstrate expertise in the experimental investigation and solution of qualitative and quantitative problems in the chemical sciences, both individually and in teams.

Structure
125 credit points
Completion of 125 points:
- 50 points of study at Level 2 or above;
- 50 points of study at Level 3;
- 25 point of study at Level 9

Students should select 50 points of level 2 options to meet the pre-requisites for their level 3 choices.
