Structure
150 credit points
All required compulsory and capstone subjects must be completed to be eligible to graduate from the program.
150 point program
Duration: 1.5 years full-time /up to 3 years part-time
Students entering this specialisation under the 150 point program will need to complete:
- 25 credit points of compulsory subjects
- 25 credit points of Capstone subjects
- 100 credit points of Elective subjects including
For students with an ESL background:
- Between 87.5 and 100 credit points of Graduate Elective subjects
- A maximum of 12.5 credit points of ESL Elective subjects
For students without an ESL background:
- 100 credit points of Graduate Elective subjects
Capstone Stream 1: LING90010 Minor Thesis (25 points)
Purpose: An opportunity to integrate knowledge and research skills within the English Language specialisation
Capstone Streams 2: LING90041 Projects in Applied Linguistics (25 points)
Purpose: An opportunity to integrate knowledge and skills from the English Language specialisation to real-world projects

The 150 point Master of Applied Linguistics program in this specialisation is available online/distance learning and/or on campus. The online option involves self-directed learning using instructions and resources provided in the LMS, and participation in online discussions and tasks as directed by the subject coordinator. There is no class attendance in this option.
