The Master of Geoscience is a graduate-level coursework degree that prepares students for careers in the Geoscience sector, including environmental maintenance and remediation, mining and mineral exploration, and geophysical or geochemical analytics. It also offers a pathway to PhD-level research.
The course offers a core program (approximately 50% of study) that is designed to be accessible and stimulating for students with or without a prior Geoscience background, accelerating all students to an advanced Graduate level. Students supplement their core studies by choosing from a wide range of elective subjects, covering both specialist geoscience disciplines, and general skills for scientific professionals. Many core and elective subjects emphasise practical and technical skills used in the field or laboratory.
Students will receive training from leading academics and industry professionals. Students may choose to study specialist elective subjects at other Australian Universities, through a shared regional teaching program, the Victorian Institute of Earth and Planetary Sciences (VIEPS).
