Students will be required to write a thesis of 15,000 words on a topic approved by the supervisor.
Intended learning outcomes
Students who successfully complete this subject should:
- Have an ability to critically evaluate research and scholarly literature concerning Arabic studies
- Have an advanced understanding of major issues and sensitivities regarding Arabic studies
- Have the ability to discuss analytically social and cultural phenomena related to Arabic studies
- Have the ability to evaluate different methodological approaches to social and intellectual issues in the field of Arabic studies
- Have a capacity to engage where appropriate with issues in Arabic studies.
Generic skills
Students who successfully complete this subject should:
- Have an ability to evaluate research and professional literature
- Have a capacity to articulate their findings and views in oral and written presentations
- Have an appreciation of the design, conduct and reporting of research
