This subject involves the completion of a professional work placement (internship) in the on-campus "WorkHub", or an approved host organisation in Australia or overseas.
All placement options allow students to immerse in a professional workplace, engaging and learning from different stakeholders, using business software for real job tasks in their field of study, and participating in career and professional development training. Throughout the placement, students, in addition to learning and performing tasks to meet the host’s expectations, are required to take ownership to plan, manage and report their industry learning experience and achievements, fostering a mindset and skills for independent and life-long learning. This subject aims to enhance students specialised industry knowledge and adaptability for future careers.
The on-campus WorkHub provides a modern collaborative and supportive office environment for students to complete internship tasks in groups, and connect with industry professionals both on-campus, virtually, and at the host organisation.
Students opting to a traditional internship will complete internship tasks in an approved host organisation which can be either a university-sourced or self-sourced organisation. Self-sourced internships can be based in Australia or overseas. All host organisations must be assessed and approved for credit.
All students are required to complete at least 90 hours of internship. Internships may be paid or unpaid, provided they comply with the Fair Work Act 2009 and relevant workplace safety legislation. Detailed procedures and application dates can be found on the FBE Internship Website
